I am addicted - but not by elks, deers and hares

I have realized this long ago - I am addicted regarding training, exercise and salsa and meeting people making me feel good. All activities creating feeling-good-hormones like endorphins and dopamins. Now when we got snow my body was woken up after three months of hibernation caused by a chain of subsequent viruses and other kinds of misery. But today I am feeling great again. And I want mooooooooore...training....and mooooore people.

I presume it is because of the snow, the sun, the exercise, new phases in my project and that demi-private project too of course. And the forecast that I might get rid of all ceramic tiles swimming all over the living room today. They are soon to be mounted on the walls in "new" bathroom.

I started up ski season last night with a tracking round on the adjusting meadow. With coal miners lamp I fought my way in 30 cm powder snow and -12 degrees. Luckily the animals had created their own tracks already. Last year they stole mine. GRRRR! What about footprints by elk, rain deer or a deep frozen showers of shit from a hare in your beautiful tracks? (The latter surely destroy the surface of your skis when it is minus degrees). Or what about three big animals - elk or deer - sleeping on the path? No we never meet I only was stuck in the dark in the middle of a downhill slope. There was no snow left over - only grass. The heath of their bodies had melted all away.

So dear Santa Claus- give me a gun for Christmas!

Yesterdays round was tough since my cardiovascular system seems to be plugged. And I couldn´t ski for real - just walk around because of the quality and depth of the snow. It was very tiring for my hamstrings, back and belly - but but these muscles need it. This morning it was much easier but then I ran on already prepared tracks. Going downhill to the house in the sunshine I felt happiness for the first time for many many months. It has been a really tough autumn.

The after some hot glögg I drove the youngest one to a farm a few kilometre away. The horses were much happier today than in the snowstorm last weekend. Now the ceramic tiles are waiting for me...

Our previous lawn mover
I am so happy I have been smart enough to stay away from all kinds of synthetic drugs - I would probably be addicted from the very first moment. Have never even tried a cigarette. This is all I can handle...salsa, skiing, gym and life in general

Contradictionary - The English Language part 1

A potential stakeholder?
Kjell Engman's Contradictory
After watching a picture of a Chanukah candelabra (that was a nice picture Andy) I came to think about an English word I really do not understand. And that is "stakeholder". If you translate that word to Swedish you get the word "candelabra holder" and those are the tiny bricks surrounding the candles stopping the stearine to fall down on the table. This makes me smile every time I hear that word.

Other times I hear that word I come to think about the poles keeping up a fence "stakethÄllare". For example the nice white painted ones used for keeping warmblood horses in the same spot. Here my own translation of that word might have something to do with reality. At least if you take the interpretation Dictionary.com uses:
"a person holding money or property to which two or more persons make rival claims".
Then you at least might bee in need of a fence with strong and firm poles.

Other times I comes to think about our Swedish word "stake". And that is something rigid and upright - like a candle for example. A person who have guts you say has stake. But mostly we use that word in another context ...now you have to put your own imagination at work. I will not tell....not here anyhow...definitely not here...
While driving home today after the class in West coast Swing I came to think about a new blogpost - I mean a real blogpost. An intellectual challenge and amusing one - not like this bullshit. But since that blog post will be in my real blog it need some planning (i.e someone need to check up the spelling after I have written it which I haven´t yet).

The theme is what Bus means for Business. So now you all have something to think about. Anyone coming up with a guess is more than welcome. Please write a comment below. Who know - you might be included in my post (perhaps not an honour but anyway ;-)

Have a Good night, Good evening or a Good morning wherever you are in the world!

I like the idea that some friends go up and some come home from work when I am just about to go to bed. The world seems smaller and at the same time bigger. Contradictionary for me which is leading up to the best part of this post: Kjell Engman's magic exhibition Contradictory 2009, Stenungsund Sweden.

I cried - yes I did cry that magic summer day deep in the rock cavity.

A fun day

Since Alistair Cockburn tweeted about my blog brittabettina.blogspot.com I had got tons of visitors. And today two twitter newspapers generated with help of that very nice tool paper.li lifted these tweets.

Funny how things can turn out. ...
I just sent Alistair a question about inspiring teachers since Ron Jefferson cannot go to Stockholm and teach the Scrum course I was supposed to attend. And next moment I was tweeted by a person having 2500 followers. Amazing!
For those who do not know Alistair  - he is a demi god in the Scrum/Agile world. So this is really an honour.
I am not a system developer (any more) but will use Scrum in my CMS projects with consultants and editors. The project cultural in my organization makes it hard to reach the goals fast enough. I think Scrum might be a great help for me to make teams performing better.
Anyhow. ...back to main topic...it feels really great that Alistair tweeted about these two blogposts:
The right to be forgotten on Internet

Did you know your Tweets might be audited and cut out of stone?
Internet integrity is very important to me. Why you think - a public person like me? It is about my kids, my parents, my friends and of course me too. You have the right to be forgotten on Internet the day you change your mind and do not want to be public any more. You have the right to be erased from Google caches the day the original source is deleted. Now it may take up to six months before the cached copy is deleted.

Thoughts at the train

On my way to Gothenburg for one more visit. The landscape is snowy and frozen. My new diesel Hundai almost didn´t make it this morning. That means at least -15 degrees Celsius.

Fun things are happening in my life right now. I more and more tend to realize that fatalism sometimes is good. Not because I do not believe in acting - it just that sometimes there are so many things beyond control and/or totally impossible to understand. Then usually lay back and  say "I am a fatalist whenever it suits my purpose". It is a quite convenient attitude.Let go and follow the stream instead of swimming upwards.
And this time I immediately understood a slice of fatalism was the best way to handle the situation. What is happening is happening - with or without your interference.

But I need a great deal of work to make this thing happening - for sure. But leading up to here seems to be "destiny"

No trip to Stockholm next week. Too much other exciting things are happening for the closets future. Perhaps I go there X-mas shopping for the weekend since tickets cannot be refunded. I will then meet a classmate I haven´t seen for 30 years. She found me at Facebook.

Smiling at my spelling mistake this morning....thoughts from the train. But who knows - I sometimes can talk with horses. Perhaps even trains. Corrected now :)

In need of inspiration - and some heath

I was booked for the SCRUM master course at Stockholm next week but since the main teacher Ron Jeffrey had to cancel I might cancel to. I understand the replacing teachers are excellent too - but the experience will not be the same. So I am disappointed....

Now I have to decide weather to go anyhow and probably not get that total kick I need or cancel and try to find another course elsewhere. Jeff Sutherland will come in April for example.

I am definitely not a programmer and have no plans to go back to that business. I will stay with project leading but need tools to improve my work. I think SCRUM might help and we already use that method at work.

I work home today. Sparkling snow an minus eight degrees. I am freezing like h*** but still inside. Sitting at kitchentable with double socks, fleece pants & fleece hood pullover. Floor heating system do not work.

Anyhow I am ready mentally for first cross country skit tour for this year but there will be none.  Other obligations and the need for going to the gym is greater. But it do really hurts already....that walk yesterday...

This is not a blog

  • This is not a blog. This is an expanded Twitter text box or Facebook status line
  • This is a place where to put unstructured thoughts and impressions. Just for the joy of writing them down an s share them. I am happy if you want to join me.
  • This is not a place for correct English. This is a place where the lust for writing and expressing things are bigger than the urge for a correct language. The massacre goes on in this channel too.

A nightly powdersnow walk in the wood

My youngest one convinced me to go for a walk in the wood 8.30 PM. Uphill on the small road - snow hard making it feeling like walking on top a a huge meringue. Deep in the wood there was 20 cm powder snow making it really hard for the tights and abs. I expect some considerable pain by tomorrow afternoon since three subsequent viruses has stopped me from training.

Anyhow - it was magic. Worth every effort. The sparkling snow. The silence. Minus ten degrees. Sadly no moon and we didn´t have any coal miners lamps this time. Photographing was impossible. The pictures you see on top and below are from a cross country skitour last year.
